VerzamelaarsJaarbeurs November 21 & 22, 2009November 21 & 22 the Utrecht Jaarbeurs Convention Centre will be turned over in Europe’s biggest vintage event. Divided over 6 halls and about 2000 stands thousands of the most divers collections will be on view and for sale. This event attracts more visitors from all over the world every year. To make it easy to find your way around, the halls are divided into special sections : Antiques, Vintage, Toys, Music, Glass, Archaeological finds, Art, Design, Fifties Furniture etc. Have a look at the pictures to get an impression of the sheer size and atmosphere, or to remember what is was like.
The Collector’s Fair remains the best place to meet fellow collectors. The many cosy terraces offer plenty of seating places to show each other your new acquisitions or exchange tips, ideas and gossip. As usual the Collector’s Fair is held in conjunction with the Mega Record & CD Fair. Heaven on earth for lovers of pop music with an enormous choice of records, CDs, DVDs and other pop memorabilia. 2009 the VerzamelaarsJaarbeurs (International Collectors Fair) will celebrate its 30th anniversary, since it was founded in 1979 over 1.000.000 (one million!) collectors have visited the fair and this shows that collecting is almost in everybody’s heart. Jaarbeurs Utrecht made an interesting choice from their archives from those 30 years, these posters, clippings and memorabilia will be on view at one of the many catering areas. The first thousand visitors on both days can collect a free gift to memorize this special edition.
Apart from the stalls where everything thinkable from the past is for sale there are several other exhibitions: from France comes a beautiful collection of Antique Toys, all based on traffic & transport, divided in different themes: Caravan’s and Camping, Coca Cola, Busses, Boats, Planes, Fire Engines, Agriculture, Citroen, Shell and Esso Garages.
The Dutch Michael Jackson Fan club will show their most rare and beautiful items like golden awards, Neverland memorabilia, stage clothing, coins, limited editions autographs and so on.
Dutch Collector AwardThe four winners of the Dutch Collectors Award will also be announced. This award has been introduced by the Antique and Collectors Magazine in conjunction with the VerzamelaarsJaarbeurs and will be given to those collectors who distinguish themselves because of their most unusual and/or surprising collection.‘Meet the Stars’In the Film and Toy section six special guests are invited to meet and greet their many Star War fans. Kenny Baker (R2-D2), Jeremy Bulloch (Boba Fett), Paul Blake (Greedo from the new series), Tim Rose (Mon Calamari), Simon Williamson (Max Rebo) and Kiran Shah (Ginaarbrik) are available for autographs and photographing in a special Star Wars ambiance.
On more stands you can see a demonstration of at least 20 old and almost forgotten crafts coming to life, like glass melting, mustard making, boat model making, hand knitting and many more. A real opportunity to experience these old techniques and the making of durable and collectable items.
