Dresses made of pencil sharpeners, Delfts Blue miniatures and autograph session with Darth VaderSaturday and Sunday April 14 & 15, 2012 the next edition of the International Collectors Fair will take place at the Jaarbeurs Convention Centre Utrecht, the Netherlands. At the 2000 stalls divided over 5 halls you can find the most desirable items worth collecting or to decorate your house, shop or office with. Hundreds of thousands objects like design furniture, vintage clothing, antiques, obscure rarities, toys, glass & pottery and so on will be for sale. At this Spring edition one of the eye catchers is the Fashion Collector’s Catwalk curated by artist Pet van de Luijtgaarden. Some 30 fashion designers created dresses and suits made from a 100 different collections like a dress made of 250 pencil sharpeners. Besides this there is an exhibit of Delfts Blue miniatures compiled by Mr. Simon Hemmes, winner of the Dutch Collector Award 2011. There are showcases with vintage hand games and computers and for collectors of postcards a special pavilion will be created. SciFi lovers will look out to meet the real Darth Vader who will be joining the show both days.
Women who like to wear the latest fashion have to go to Paris or to the attic!Matchboxes, pencil sharpeners, dinky toys and stickers: anything can be collected and that’s what Pet van the Luijtgaarden does. He collects collections but what to do with it? So he invited some 30 students from the High School of Art Utrecht to create clothing from all his collections. They came up with the most original dresses and suits which will all be showed by mannequins from the same High school. The final presentation on the Catwalk is on Saturday, two shows at 2 and 3 pm, at the stage in hall 7.
Delft’s Blue exhibition KLM miniaturesOver twenty years Simon Hemmes, winner of the Dutch Collector Award 2011, has specialized in collecting KLM miniature houses which were given to passengers of the Royal Dutch Airline KLM. Nowadays his collection is one of the largest in the world and even bigger than KLM’s own! At the International Collectors Fair Hemmes will exhibit his most precious items supplemented with other miniatures like ships from the Holland-America Line and the so called Zaanse Schans houses. All together it’s a beautiful and typically Dutch collection.
Vintage PostcardsSpecial attention this fair is there for everybody who collects vintage postcards. You can bring your unknown cards for a free valuation, there are beamer shows of rare collections, special exhibitions and a competition with some nice prices to be won.
